Funeral for Officer George Wong Delayed
The funeral services for an unsung hero – Police Officer George Wong has been delayed because of a telephone call from NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner. The medical examiners asked to perform an autopsy to re-determine the late officer’s cause of death on Monday afternoon when a scheduled wake was about to start. CEO of Mohegan Sun Visits Community Leaders
Jeffrey E. Hartmann, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mohegan Sun, met with Chinatown community leaders yesterday. Half a month ago, a charter bus came back to Chinatown from this casino involved in a fatal accident. Fifteen passengers lost their lives. Even though the City Planning Commission unanimously voted in favor of the creation of a SoHo Business Improvement District (BID) in January, over one hundred people went to a Manhattan Community Board 2 meeting last night to exchange hot words with Councilwoman Margaret Chin over related issues. Keeping Doors Open for Senior Citizens
State and City elected officials yesterday happily reported that the State Legislature just passed resolutions and restored $25.2 million Title XX funding to New York City’s 105 senior centers. Author Amy Chua, with her husband, law professor and novelist Jed Rubenfeld and their older daughter, Sophia, attended the kick-off event of the World Journal’s new Ideas Market speaker series last night at the New York Public Library. It’s the first time the family has appeared together for a public talk since the Wall Street Journal published Amy Chua’s works, on January 8, about why Chinese mothers are superior.
